Leadership & Governance
Spicy Grove Ministries is guided by a dedicated Board of Directors who provide oversight, strategic direction, and spiritual covering for the work we carry out in Jamaica and beyond. Their collective wisdom, diverse expertise, and deep commitment to our mission ensure that we remain faithful stewards of the resources and people entrusted to our care.
In addition, we are blessed by the support of trusted ministry partners who
walk alongside us in prayer, service, and mission.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
DEWEY MOWATT
Chairman
- Presides over board meetings and ensures effective governance
- Partners with the CEO to provide leadership and strategic direction
- Ensures board actions are followed through in a timely manner
- Serves as a key spokesperson for the board when appropriate
- Oversees board development, recruitment, and performance
GRACE MYERS
Chief Executive Officer
- Provides day-to-day leadership of the ministry in Jamaica
- Implements board-approved strategies, programs, and policies
- Oversees program development, staff management, and operations
- Reports regularly to the board on performance and needs
- Represents the ministry to the community, donors, and partners
HORTENSE GREGORY-NELSON
Treasurer
- Oversees financial integrity and transparency of the organization
- Reviews financial reports, budgets, and statements
- Ensures appropriate financial policies and internal controls are in place
- Supports fundraising efforts through financial planning and oversight
- Coordinates with accountants or auditors as needed
DANE McKINNEY
Director of Planning & Development
- Contributes to the strategic vision and long-term planning of the ministry
- Helps assess infrastructure and program expansion opportunities
- Advises on metrics and systems for evaluating impact and growth
ALEX CARUTHERS
Director of Community Relations
- Cultivates relationships with churches, schools, and civic organizations
- Promotes awareness of the ministry’s mission and work
- Assists with public relations, media outreach, and community engagement
- Helps organize events or initiatives that build local and regional support
DAVID STROUP
Director of Mission Teams
- Coordinates and trains U.S.-based mission teams traveling to Spicy Grove
- Helps plan logistics, project needs, and ministry opportunities for teams
- Acts as liaison between team leaders, board, and on-the-ground staff
- Supports post-trip engagement and ongoing donor relationships
