Say No to anxiety and Yes to peace!

A carefree life is not careless, rather it is prayerful, thankful and peaceful. Philippians 4:6 is a well-known verse but very difficult to practice in our daily lives. Instead of 'worrying about nothing and praying about everything, we tend to worry about everything and pray about some things." We forget that 'nothing' is an absolute word that gives us no option. Worry is being overly concerned about a situation or our circumstances to the extent that it distorts our understanding of who God is and diminishes our trust in Him, we do the opposite of Proverbs 3:5; "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on our own understanding." When we take everything to God in prayer, we see things from His perspective, we leave it for Him to work it out, we are prompted to be thankful as we are confident that He is 'more than able'. Then His peace takes over, we are held captive by 'the peace that surpasses all understanding'. As that famous hymn reminds us "Oh what peace we often forfeit, Oh what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer." So the next time you are tempted to meditate or ruminate on a need, problem or your situation whether past, present or future, turn your thoughts into prayer, "Let your requests be made known to God." A we say 'no to anxiety and yes to peace!'
